Randall, Did you see Terrys email on Friday and the bold action that precipitated it? Im so proud of Terry for issuing a series of line-item vetoes and standing up to the Republican leadership whose refusal to compromise on Medicaid expansion is leaving 400,000 hardworking Virginians without adequate health care. These line-item vetoes showed Terry is steadfastly committed to closing the coverage gap — even in the face of uncompromising opposition. Will you show Terry that you stand with him in this fight by making a $5 donation today? Unfortunately, our work isnt done. The same Republicans who put Terry in this position will keep fighting to prevent our friends and neighbors from having quality health care. But if you have Terrys back, I know that we will emerge victorious — just as we did last November. Thanks, Dorothy McAuliffe On Fri, June 20, 2013 at 2:26 PM, Terry McAuliffe wrote: I made a promise to you during my campaign and I intend to keep it. Thats why, earlier this morning, I announced my intent to line-item veto several items in the budget that prevented Virginia from closing the coverage gap and instructed my administration to do everything in our power to provide health care to all Virginians. In the face of demagoguery, fear, and hypocrisy from Republicans in the Virginia General Assembly, I remain committed to the central promise of my campaign: one of the wealthiest states in one of the wealthiest nations in the world has no excuse for not providing health care to its needy citizens. Please donate $5 today and declare that you think health care in Virginia is a moral imperative. Unfortunately, these vetoes are not the final chapter in this story — and Im counting on you to support me, just as you did last year. By refusing any and all compromise on the expansion of Medicaid, the Republican leadership has elected to forfeit $5 million per day in funding that we have already sent to Washington. We have already lost $850 million as of this morning. Thats why I will veto the Stanley Amendment and the Medicaid Innovation and Reform Commission. And its why Ive instructed Secretary of Health and Human Services Bill Hazel to work with our federal partners in Washington, the insurance industry, health care providers, our university medical centers, non-profit organizations, and the hospital industry itself to extend the promise of health care to our people. If you still believe that providing health care to hard working Virginians is a moral imperative, Im counting on your support today. Make a $5 donation to help me in this fight. During my campaign, you supported me and my deeply held conviction that closing the coverage gap was the right thing to do for Virginias families and for our economy. Im counting on you to continue fighting alongside me. Thank you, Terry McAuliffe action.terrymcauliffe/page/m/6a1a6cc4/325f4185/690902d0/46f45fcd/2594650144/VEsC/ Paid for by Common Good VA.
