Rant for the day...Walgreens drug store. Is it just the White Bridge Road location that is totally incompetent, or is it all of them? I take care of a friends (who suffers from dementia) medications. Without them he would be in a state of confusion and anxiety. I phoned in a refill to one of his prescriptions three weeks ago. Got a phone call (as I always do) that it had been delayed and that I could not pick it up the next day. I stopped in the pharmacy at day 5 to find out if it was ready and they just had not called. It wasnt. They said that it hadnt come in yet. I stopped in again at day nine to check on it. They said it wasnt in yet. At this point I ask them if anyone had bothered to check and find out why it wasnt in. They said they would make a note to check on it. Stopped in again on the 22nd of August. This time they claimed that the hold up was that they had contacted the doctors office for advice as to a substitute, and that the doctor had not responded. I contacted the doctors office. They had never received any communication from the pharmacy and wanted the phone number so that they could find out what the pharmacy needed. Doctors office called me back and said that the pharmacy was going to fill the prescription with two 14 mg tablets daily instead of the usual 28. Said Walgreens told them they would have it in the next day. Four days later, and still no call saying the prescription is ready for pick up. I call Walgreens. They at first deny ever talking to the doctors office. I face off with them about it. Told them that I knew that the doctor talked with them on Monday and exactly what they and the doctor had agreed to. They then told me that the insurance company requires a special approval which they did not have. I am certain that they had not even attempted to get it given their prior falsehoods. Ended up paying $366 out of pocket for a $45 prescription to get enough to last until I can transfer all the prescriptions to another pharmacy. These folks are totally incompetent. End of rant for the day.
