Rape exists; so does false rape. Yet, while the media publishes reams and reams on the former, almost nobody even mentions the men who have been falsely accused of rape and whose lives get ruined as a result of such rabid misandry. Rolling Stone had to eat humble pie when its coverage of the UVA gang-rape turned out to be riddled with holes. Closer home, the Rohtak Sisters (who did not make a rape allegation but you wouldnt know it - the media outcry was just as loud) turned out to be Brave Farts and not Brave Hearts. In both cases, the media rushed in to report the story without actually verifying the facts. Patriachy!, they shouted; yet another example of the prevailing rape culture and misogyny hollered others. Everyone took to social media to show their support and deride the blots on humanity who were responsible for the heinous acts. Guilt was presumed, evidence and due process be damned. Yet, when the stories fell apart, where was the outrage over that?
