Recently the Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, R.T. Nagar has strarted a Social service apart from the religious service. I think it is first of its kind to serve the Brahmin community in distress. Many of the devotees closely associated with the Mutt has formed a Samiti called Mukti Seva Samiti with the aim of providing physical and emotional support to a family where the unfortunate event of death occurs. The Samiti would render all possible and necessary help for the last journey of the mortal remains. The Samiti has all necessary information required for a family of a deceased , like the names and numbers of the Achars/Sastries/Vadyars for respective brahmin communities like Madhvas, Iyers, Iyengars etc., Food arrangement would be made for the family on the day of funeral either through the Mutt or through outside agencies. The Mukti Seva Samiti enrolls members by a nominal fee of Rs.100/-. The family in distress has to make a call to any of the numbers provided in the application form. Rest, the Samiti will take care of. This is an unique service started by the RT Nagar Mutt., just recently. If this type of service is rendered by other religious institutions it will be very useful and helpful for the Brahmin community. Khudos to the RT Nagar Mutt management.
