Ref Number AC 418/14 Position Title Assistant Professor in Anaesthesia (Re-advertised) Closing Date 10-Oct-2014 Background - Responsibility The appointee will be required to teach Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes, providing leadership in the development of clinical research and administrative matters. This position reports directly to the Head of Department of Medical Sciences and is responsible for teaching and day to day supervision of trainee interns in the surgical rotation. This position includes the development of teaching materials, on-going revision of curricula; assessment and evaluation of students; work as consultants at the government hospitals. Clinical commitment at the CWM Hospital and Lautoka Hospital will be involved. MQR Applicants must have a practicing clinician with a Fellowship or a clinical Master’s Degree or equivalent in Anesthesia with 4 years clinical experience post attaining qualification. Demonstrated teaching experience, and research and publication, and/or consultancy experience, in the relevant field. The candidate must be registrable as a specialist in the discipline by the Fiji Medical Council. A generalist specialist is an added advantage. Applicants must also be a member of professional fellowship colleges or medical associations, being part of conducive learning environment with top students from across the Pacific Region and should have contact with the very best consultants in this region. Experience in curriculum development is desirable but not essential. An Assistant Professor shall have a demonstrated ability to make a significant contribution to the discipline through research and/or scholarship. In research and/or scholarship and/or teaching they shall demonstrate the ability to make original contributions which expand knowledge or practice in their disciplines.
