Reflections of a #FabAcademic - On success A lot of people look at the successful as if they are lucky. A lot of people look at the successful as if they are the ones who had something in them that was special, as if they were born great. A lot of people who think like this are mediocre. The truth of the matter is that the people who have succeeded before you are more similar to you than you think. They had aspirations and they had dreams, just like you. However their competitive advantage is in the execution stage. You see, when successful people make up their mind to do something, they stick with it. No matter how tough things are, they see it through. The mediocre on the other hand, will blame others and their circumstances for their lack of success and jump from one task to task, without mastering anything. This is the road to mediocrity and a very dull life. On the other hand, the successful devote their life to their dreams. The bottom line is that successful people are no different from you. They are not the chosen ones; they don’t have something in them that you don’t have. All they do is make their mind they never stop until their achieve success. Failure is never an option. They are either going to succeed or they will die trying. There is no in between. It’s important to realize that success is not God given. Just because you’re a good person does not mean you are going to succeed. If you do not work hard you will fail even with your goodness. Being a kind and generous person will not make you successful if you do not work hard to achieve your dreams. Success is objective. Of course there are many stories where someone was in the right spot at the right time and made it big. However this does not happen all the time - success is a matter of will. It is a matter of saying, enough is enough and you are going to commit yourself to working hard to get the results you desire and you are not going to stop until you die or until you succeed. This is what it comes down to. Yes it all comes down to who is willing to fight for the prize. It comes down to how hungry you are to succeed. It does not come down to who is the smartest or who is the best looking. It comes down to consistent hard work. It comes down to doing what it takes to succeed. #WiseUp
