Regarding his film, Noah, Aronofsky says “It’s about environmental apocalypse which is the biggest theme, for me, right now for what’s going on on this planet. So I think it’s got these big, big themes that connect with us. Noah was the first environmentalist” (slashfilm/darren-aronofskys-noah-released-wide-march-28th-2014/). n addition to his environmentalism agenda, I thought it was interesting that Aronofsky recognizes the story of Noah as the oldest apocolyptic story. Regardless of ones opinion on the film itself, Aronofsky is timely in his appeal to his audience to take better care of our world. It is what we do now that matters. Seeing Noah in an environmentalists light is interesting. Johnson adds that, among other reservations, the insertion of the extremist environmental agenda is a problem. Aronofsky disputes that. Its in the Bible that we are supposed to tend the garden, the director says. To say theres no ecological side to the Noah story when Noah is saving the animals just doesnt make sense to me.
