Relay for Life - What this year means to me. In the past the Relay for Life was a way for me to teach students about giving their time and effort for a worthy cause. To pull together as a karate family and do something special for the community. This year we are walking in honor of my Dad. Leo Paul Chauvin (Paul) My Dad passed away in September from lung cancer. He was a very humble and simple man who gave all he had to his family. Always had a smile and a joke for everyone around him and he was one of the most selfless people I have ever known. His death is a huge loss to those who knew him. My goal for this year, is to get as many people together as we can, to participate in the Relay for life. It would mean so much to me if we could get a group of us to walk together at least for Friday night. (maybe get a few late owls too) My hope is that we will be able to get people who will officially join our team (by registering online under our team name - Insights Karate Academy), but also hoping to have people be a part of our demo team, and help by baking for our bake sales, and gathering donations from businesses to raffle off. I want to close by saying thank you to all of the IKA family. I had so much support during a very difficult time from past students as well as current. Im proud to have such a terrific group of people around me. Lets go put a dent in cancer, and raise some money to celebrate more birthdays. Respectfully, (Miss) Elaine Chauvin
