Released 45 years ago (!), The Mothers of Inventions LP, Cruising with Ruben and the Jets surprised many die hard Mothers fans, myself included, who were expecting something more along the lines of the LP Uncle Meat, which followed close behind. At any rate... Zappas extremely dry humor passed over the heads of many at the time. (And probably will so today...) I love this song; it starts off as a 50s doo-wop broken heart song and evolves into a, for the time, ripping guitar solo backed by a throbbing lewd drum beat, as Zappa would put it.
