Religious neocolonialism It has been said that Christianity has been use to promote western colonialism in Africa. Till now, western names are taken to be the godly (religious) names with exception of a few African names such as Kizito, Lwanga, Balikudembe among the Uganda martyrs. Fortunately, Africans minds are progressively opening, for example Pentecostals in Uganda opt for names like Mukisa (Blessed ) , Muwanguzi (Victor) , Kwagala (Love) ,Rukundo... Africa is realizing that its not the race of the name that sanctifies it , but rather its meaning However, in the pursuit for total independence and self-esteem against the western neocolonialism, many Africans seem to have a blind tolerance to Arabic neocolonialism which sneaks in through Islam. Islam elevates the Arabic language above all other languages. Its considered the acceptable language of communication between the deity and his believers. Being the sacred language, believers make all effort to learn Arabic. It becomes therefore the source of pride, lowering the pride of Africans in native languages. WILL AFRICAN MUSLIMS EVER REALIZE THAT THEIR LANGUAGES ARE NOT SATANIC AND SO CAN BE USED EVEN IN THE MAJOR COMMUNICATION WITH THE DEITY? IF HE IS INDEED A UNIVERSAL DEITY. What about the robes? Almost there is no Muslim man without a rob in Africa. But where are they manufacturered from? Think about the economic advantage Arabia exploits in Africa by selling its sacred brand of robes and its accessories. Do we realize how Islam makes Africa a steady market for Arabian commodities ? Dates tagged with a religious advantage ,especially during Ramadan ,become a big export from Arabia to Africa. But what does Africa export in turn? How then can Africa have a favourable balance of trade against Arabia? Do we realize how Africa can remain a beggar to Asia? And if a beggar, a colony too.
