Remember how I was facepalming myself this morning for leaving for - TopicsExpress

Remember how I was facepalming myself this morning for leaving for work without my phone or my book, and with a dead tablet? Totally for the best. Since I didnt have anything to occupy myself, I didnt want to eat in the break room, so I grabbed my sack lunch and headed downstairs. I stepped outside and discovered that it was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day, whereupon I remembered that my building is only two blocks from Klyde Warren Park. I hoofed it to the park and found a table at the east end, away from the kids area and the food trucks. Very few people around. I ate my lunch in the shade of an energetic young intern of an oak tree, surrounded by lovely ornamental grasses and drought-tolerant flowering plants. No need for a screen to capture my gaze; I wanted to drink in the beauty around me as widely as I could. I was sighing more often than an exasperated teenager (but in a good way!) After I was done eating, I threw my trash in a nearby bin and decided to stroll down to where the food trucks were parked, wanting to mull over my dessert options. Once I got down there, though, I decided I was perfectly satisfied, and turned around to walk back. I walked in the cool shade of the stone wall that encircles the Nasher Sculpture Garden, then down the colonnade on Flora back to the street my building is on. Just as I turned the corner onto Pearl, the bells of the cathedral carillon started ringing out. I realized I was grinning like crazy as I made my way back to my desk. Yep. I am a happy man.
