Remember the cardboard dinosaur that has stolen a lot of limelight during the SMMF weekend? While Bart, its maker, was not with us during the event, read more about him through this interview conducted by the Singapore Science Festival team. #SMMF14 _____________________________________________________________ [Shared from SSF FB Page] For most of us, we draw shapes on paper. For Bartholomew, he makes shapes out of paper. We asked Cardboard Sculptor, Bartholomew T, a few questions. Singapore Science Festival: What you do and how long have you been building cardboard sculptures? Bartholomew T: I am a Cardboard Sculptor and Creative Director from Tri-Wall CreativeS (Subsidiary of Tri-Wall Group). I create larger-than-life cardboard sculptures and furniture since late 2011. #SSF2014: How did cardboard sculpturing come about for you? Bartholomew: When I was an undergrad in National University of Singapore, an orientation activity required us to use recycled materials to build huge structures on a moving platform. Cardboard was the go-to material. 2) What inspires you to build these cardboard sculptures? - Rag team from National University of Singapore (during my undergraduate study 1998- 2001). We used recycled materials to build float (huge structures on a moving platform) then. Cardboard was one of the favourite materials. #SSF2014: What do you hope to achieve out of your creations, and has the time spent been a good investment? Bartholomew: I hope to meet more makers out there and looking for collaboration as this is the best way to learn new things. Yes definitely I enjoy most of the time I spent doing cardboard sculptures.
