Reminds me of a Star Trek novel, Generations I think it was - TopicsExpress

Reminds me of a Star Trek novel, Generations I think it was called, where after Zefram Cochrane invents the warp drive, he releases the blueprints into the information super highways of an Earth ravished by war, pollution and division. Centuries later the United Federation of Planets is dedicated to peacekeeping and harmony, not expansionism and oppression, while Earth is restored to the paradise it was in the past. I dont know if the open source movement was a thing back when that novel was written, but it certainly was written in the spirit of that movement. Its encouraging to see it catch on on an industrial scale, starting with one company. If this proves to work, and expands the support and acceptance of zero emission vehicles, it would be an excellent precedent for others to follow.
