Representatives Mike Michaud (D-ME) and Reid Ribble (R-WI) launched the Paper Caucus last month to “highlight the importance and economic significance of the paper industry and to focus on the policy solutions needed to sustain and promote this important sector.” This informal, bi-partisan group is open to all Members of Congress, whether they represent paper industry facilities and employees, care about policy issues facing the industry, or simply want to learn more about this sector of the economy. The caucus is a great tool to spread the word about the benefits from the economic contributions and employment opportunities provided by this industry in nearly every state. It’s also a platform to share information about the renewable energy profile of the industry, our recycling story, the industry’s sustainability accomplishments and goals, and many other aspects of our products and processes.
