Republicans are trying to put the American people back on the hook for Wall Street’s risky behavior. In the dead of night, House Republicans slipped a provision that would gut Wall Street reform into a must-pass, 1,600-page funding bill to keep the government open past Thursday. We need to speak up -- right now -- to let Speaker Boehner know that’s simply not acceptable. Tell Speaker Boehner – do not gut Wall Street reform. Add your name to our petition. This provision would allow big banks to gamble with money insured by the FDIC. It would open the door to another taxpayer-funded bailout of big banks -- forcing the middle class to bear the burden for Wall Street’s mistakes. And it gets even worse. Another provision snuck in seeks to undermine campaign finance laws. The Republican provision would allow wealthy individuals to give 10 times the amount of money they can currently give to a political party. The House GOP isn’t looking out for our families. They’re stacking the deck for the special interests at the expense of everyone else. Speaker Boehner released this package last night -- at the 11th hour -- in an attempt to force this on the American people. We can’t let him or his caucus get away with it.
