Resistance to institutional church does not always equate to - TopicsExpress

Resistance to institutional church does not always equate to rebellion or, disloyalty or lack of character. It just may mean one refuses to yield to the will or the authority of another person or to buy in to another man’s concept of “serving God.” It may mean you want to break up with perpetual volunteerism, church politics, & endless financial giving, to just serve God in a more organic fashion - like being naturally pulled into relationships & causes with other like-minded people & just doing life w/them while proclaiming the good news of a daily life in God vs organized programs & religion. It may mean wanting to abandon the mere heard mentality. It may mean choosing the life of Mary vs Martha. Martha was “overly occupied and too busy & was distracted with much serving” according to Luke 10:40. Jesus himself called her “anxious & troubled about many things.” Mary “chose the good portion that which was to her advantage, which could not be taken from her.” It may mean you’re tired of having to explain why you don’t want to do one more thing, be at one more place, one more time. It may mean, you don’t want to perpetuate a belief system of fear & judgment & your mere presence sends messages that you agree. Think twice before you think you know the answer to why someone has left the institutional church. Man has made serving God complicated. There were only two laws to keep. Love God & love your neighbor as you love yourself. This might be a problem for that person who feels that they deserve judgment. If one believes they deserve judgment they cant love themselves or anyone else for that matter. But if you believe it was finished at the cross. Live like it! #Judgeifyoumust #Igotupthisway
