Ricci C. Yes, there was a special exercise, for closing, that we did for developing a flowing burst of energy and it came in two parts. First was the Closing technique itself. All Closing concepts store energy that is released when you trigger the close. The second part was called Shadow Closing. This was in all our tool pouches. Bruce underlined this as a critical element of trapping. It came in five levels. First was the initial burst to get into a very close position to the opponent. Even though you were close, you were not allowed to touch him. This was to learn spontaneous forward spring energy control, The purpose was to separate the footwork from the hand actions. Bruce called it the single unit moving concept. It was to teach the footwork that would automatically maintain a set distance wherever the opponent tried to escape. This was an exercise distance only. The hands were up against your chest to allow for close quarter. The exercise was straight back at first. The second level was to have the opponent be evasive as possible. The third level, was the opponent could suddenly stop and start, and you still had to maintain distance without touching him. The forth level was to widen the distance and fire rapid sting strikes that would only touch the opponent. Sting strikes were used to develop depth control when moving rapidly. The fifth level was to add elements of trapping while still pressing forward. Of course the trap reduced down the opponents escape options. All these exercises were to trigger a constant aggressive energy flow, into the opponent, until he was wiped out.
