Rinks one and two are freshly painted and back in business. Those of you already using them will have noticed the new orange stripe around the ice next to the boards. We at the Sportsplex take safety very seriously, that is why we are proud to be the first rink in Canada to install the Look up Line in our facility. It has already been approved for use by USA Hockey and USA College hockey and will be coming to Canada in the near future. It is important to note that it does not change any of the rules about hitting and it is not a no hitting zone. We hope that this line will bring more awareness to players and coaches of the potential dangers and serious injuries that happen around the boards. I feel it will be like having the coach tell every player to watch the boards as they step on the ice for each shift. It is not only about trying to get more respect for each other, but also reminding each player of the importance of protecting yourself when you are playing.
