Officials say seven vehicles including five taxis were involved in the crash on the stretch of road between Leeugamka and Beaufort West. Provincial traffic chief Kenny Africa said, “In the one taxi seven people were burnt beyond recognition and two people in the light delivery van were also burnt beyond recognition.” This brings to at least eleven the number of people who have been killed in that area since the start of the weekend. Yesterday the Western Cape traffic department said about 57 people have died on the provinces roads since the beginning of the month. The department added it will be following suit with additional roadblocks over the next few days.
