Robbery update: so my brother found his tools being sold on - TopicsExpress

Robbery update: so my brother found his tools being sold on kijiji. Because we couldnt see his personal markings in the pictures the thieves posted, the police werent able to get a search warrant. So, with some guidance from an expert, we devised a plan. Brother contacted the seller to arrange to buy the tools. The goal was to positively identify and call the police. However, when we met the young man (joined by a second) at an address just 2 blocks west of my home (!!), the thieves couldnt get the door of the property open. So we left. And now the sellers (thieves) arent responding to any inquiries about the tools. The surveillance operation is wrapped up. Final police statements given. It is frustrating as hell to think about being violated by this scum, and then finding the property only to walk away empty handed, with the thought that it is CHEAPER for me to buy back my brothers own tools from these pieces of shit on kijiji than it is to replace them through insurance. So the scum is richer in either scenario and I am poorer no matter how we slice it. And my brother wont have all his tools (even through an insurance claim) because there are a hundred little gadgets collected in the course of his work that are impossible to remember. In good news, the break-in inspired me to get my air conditioner fixed so I can sleep with my window closed! Thanks to my friend Bill for fixing it for me. And to Bob for your intelligence and support.
