Robbie Fowler has taken a new step in his storied career with Liverpool after the club today announced that the revered former striker has become an official ambassador with the Reds. The Toxteth-born goal-getter joined the Academy at the age of nine and achieved a first-team debut by 18, heralding the beginning of a long and successful relationship with the Kop. Having lifted the League Cup in 1995, he was part of the famous treble-winning team of 2000-01 that hoisted the same trophy plus the FA Cup and the UEFA Cup after a dramatic night in Dortmund. Fowler departed in 2001 but completed an emotional return to his beloved team five years later, representing Liverpool for another 18 months and establishing a tally of 183 goals in 369 appearances. Liverpool has been a massive part of my life for 30 years now, he commented. Its been an honour to play for this club and its even more of a privilege to be asked to be an ambassador. Im looking forward to representing this great club and will do all I can to support success both on and off the pitch. In his new role as an ambassador, his duties include attending matches, working with commercial partners, supporting club-wide initiatives and working as a mentor back at the Academy. The 39-year-old will kick off his ambassadorial responsibilities by joining the first team on their pre-season tour to the USA, featuring fixtures in Boston, Chicago, New York and Charlotte.
