Robert James Ritchie turns 44 today, which makes me wonder if hell soon change his name from Kid Rock to a one word name like STONE. The Romeo, Michigan native is the third of four children and his baby sister is none other than the beautiful actress Jill Richie. Kid found small-town life dull and became interested in rap music, learning how to breakdance and participating in talent shows in the Detroit area. At age eleven, he joined a breakdance crew called the Furious Funkers and taught himself to work a cheap belt-driven turntable. He eventually joined Bo Wisdom of Groove Time Productions in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to perform basement parties for $30 a night. He chose his stage name while performing at these venues; club goers dubbed him Kid Rock after they had enjoyed watching that white kid rock. While performing, Rock befriended producer D-Nice of the legendary hip-hop group Boogie Down Productions. When Rock opened for BDP (Boogie Down Productions) one night, D-Nice invited an A&R representative from Jive Records to see him perform. This meeting led to a demo deal that developed into a full record contract, he was 17. Like many, it took me awhile to warm up to Kid Rocks music, but when he and Sheryl Crow sang Picture together, I was hooked and started to explore his music and it was then I became a fan of quite a bit of his stuff. Kid Rocks musical style ranges from Midwest hip hop and heavy metal to country rock and rap rock. His influences include Warren Zevon, Jim Croce, Hank Williams, Jr., Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, David Allan Coe, Bob Seger, Run-DMC, Beastie Boys, Whodini, Too Short, Eric B. & Rakim and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Today he is an Icon in the music industry having been accredited as a major influence of such artist and groups as Eminem, Lil Wayne, Yelawolf, Uncle Kracker, Paradime, Ty Stone, Jocaine and 75 North, Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson, Jason Aldean, Colt Ford, The Sheepdogs, and The Young Brothers. Happy Birthday Hoss, thank you for the music. With over 2 decades under his belt in the entertainment business, the quite charitable republican father of one hasnt had much luck in love. So ladies hes single and his taste is simple, he wants to meet a girl wearing......
