Ruth understood what it was like to feel abandoned by God. Her entire world fell apart when she lost her husband and two sons. She felt so dejected that she was ready to change her name to match her attitude, bitter. Bitterness is what grows in our hearts as we blame either God or others for the circumstances of our lives. Yet God had not given up on her. God showed His faithfulness to her by giving her a faithful companion in her daughter-in-law Ruth. When hardship comes our way we can cast blame or we can pause and look for the ways that God is lovingly providing for our needs. Don’t be too quick to shake your fist at God. Instead lean into the relationships that God has given you and watch Him work through that community.
