SA ECONOMIC STATS: • The total population is 50 million people: • Of national tax revenue, 99% is paid by 3.2 million people, or 6.4% of the total population • Social welfare payments are made regularly to 15.5 million people, or 31% of the population • In excess of 60% of corporate tax is paid by 1% of companies • More than 80% of taxpayers do not vote for the ANC as ruling party • An estimated 70% of voters who elected the ANC are unemployed.
