SALENGA WINS IN KIDAPAWAN. Top rated darter JERRY SALENGA of Makati City displayed his shooting prowess in the 501 mode of play by defeating top favorite Christian Perez of Robson, Koronadal, in a hard fought battle during the finals to win the men’s singles title of the P200,000 Gov. Emmylou “Lala” Talino-Mendoza National Open Dart Cup held on August 1-3 at the City Gymnasium in Kidapawan City. The 32-year-old Salenga, who won over Perez, 4-2, in the best-of-seven finals, learned how to play darts when he was only 16 years old (1998) but had to stop and only resumed his darting career in 2012. Joint 3rd and 4th places went to Boy Chuchas of Davao City and Boie Parfan of Manila, while top-ranked darters Alexis Toylo, Andy Villamor, Gilbert Boy Ulang and Edward Santos were joint 5th to 8th places. In the ladies singles, Mayflor Parcon of Kidapawan City outclassed Ging Ansale of Bukidnon to win the crown. The three-day event was organized and sanctioned by the National Darts Federation.
