SALLUTES TO AAP GOVT FOR NO FDI IN RETAIL I salute & support Aam Aadmi Party Government in Delhi for deciding not to permit FDI in multi-brand retail trade. That is a correct decision in a right direction to the broader interest of our nation. That will directly beneficial to thousands of retail traders in Delhi too. It is ridiculous that the Union commerce minister, to state that the decision was irresponsible & ill-considered; India is not a banana republic where policy decisions can be reversed. Actually the congress itself had made India a banana republic, like when the corporates serving neo-liberal policies began in 1991. The then minority Narasimha Rao Govt. brought massive changes in policies by outside parliament declarations even before passing a confidence vote in parliament. Both the BJP & the CPM led left opposition camps saved that govt by abstaining from voting when each of other camp voted against the Govt. From his statement it seems that the congress minister was thinking no policy decision can be reversed if once pronounced. Perhaps he might be thinking that such corporate interest serving policies are unchangeable as our economy is in the strangle hold of corporates & WB, IMF, ADB etc. which are almost directly controlling our economy. Whenever a party gets power it is usual that to follow the same economic policy despite being the colour of the flag. A new politics with a right direction is necessary to break that chain of slavery. AAP has got the mandate of the people to go ahead to a new direction other than the established parties. I appeal to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government to make applicable that decision to single brand retail trade too. Then only that step could claim a new political direction. Otherwise that may confine as a populist one for the time being & which can be reversed at any time when situation found expedient. I appeal further that APP government should concentrate on alternate policy decisions and its implementations. The gimmickry would not bring changes in politics or society. If Delhi Chief Minister Mr.Arvind Kejriwal and his ministers are following the same style of functioning of the leaders of the established politics, especially the pretensions as benevolent master or individualistic saviors are detrimental to the declared politics of people’s power.
