SCAM ALERT: We have taken a report involving a Fargo resident who indicated she was contacted by a male with a Jamaican accent stating she won several million dollars but needed to wire money to pay taxes on the winnings. The victim was advised to purchase Money Pak Cards and provide the access codes to the male over the phone. The male contacted her with a few different numbers with an 876 area code (Jamaica). She was advised to mail the money to a Florida address. Please be aware these scams are still happening in our area and are easily done via telephone. Never provide personal information over the phone, and never purchase Money Pak cards or send money via Western Union or Money Gram to claim a prize, as it is more than likely a scam.
