SCRAPPING THE CARBON TAX HAS DELIVERED RECORD FALLS IN ELECTRICITY PRICES The removal of the carbon tax has already delivered Australian families and businesses the biggest drop in electricity prices on record. Following the release of the Consumer Price Index for the September Quarter 2014 its clear that electricity prices have had the largest fall since 1980 which confirms that the scrapping of the carbon tax is delivering real and immediate benefits to Australian families. Importantly, there have already been significant falls in electricity and gas prices across the country. In New South Wales - power bills are up to 10 per cent lower than they would have been with the carbon tax. In Victoria, power bills are up to 12.4 per cent lower In Western Australia - up to 9.8 per cent lower. In Ontario the Carbon Tax is really the Green Energy Act and the HST on gasoline, electricity and home heating products introduced by the Liberals in July 2010.
