SERVICES FOR OFFICER CASEY KOHLMEIER - EOW 10/30/13 Visitation on Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Pontiac Township High School Auditorium. *** LAW ENFORCEMENT WALK THROUGH AT 10:00AM Service will be on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at the Pontiac Township High School Auditorium, 1100 East Indiana Avenue, Pontiac. Pastor Jane Bradford will officiate. Burial will be at Southside Cemetery in Pontiac with full military rites. OBITUARY FOR OFFICER KOHLMEIER: Casey J. Kohlmeier, 29, of Pontiac, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 10:46 p.m. at OSF St. James John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac. The service will be on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at the Pontiac Township High School Auditorium, 1100 East Indiana Avenue, Pontiac. Pastor Jane Bradford will officiate. Burial will be at Southside Cemetery in Pontiac with full military rites. Friends may call on Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Pontiac Township High School Auditorium. Casey was born on June 5, 1984 in Fairbury, IL, son of Jeff Kohlmeier of Saunemin, IL and Keri Schmidt of Saunemin, IL. He is survived by his parents, Jeff (Tracey) Kohlmeier of Saunemin, IL and Keri (Donny) Schmidt of Saunemin, IL; his step-father, Kyle Kociss of Morris, IL; maternal grandparents, Jim and Kay Horrie of Saunemin, IL, Lynne and James Kociss of Gardner, IL, Larry and Linda Schmidt of Mt. Vernon, IL, and Ina Tjelle of Lincoln, IL; paternal grandparents, Eldon “Bud” and Karen Kohlmeier of Saunemin, IL and Alvin Gamble of Fitchfield, OH; his girlfriend, Leslie Alappattu of Bloomington, IL; two brothers, Zach Kohlmeier of Bourbonnais, IL and Jordan Kociss of Bloomington, IL; and two sisters, Lauren Kohlmeier of Normal, IL; Ryli Schmidt of Saunemin, IL. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Joan Gamble. He was with his K-9 patrol partner, Draco, who was his beloved sidekick, until the end. Casey was a graduate of Pontiac Township High School, Class of 2002. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from DeVry University in the Technical Management Program. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 2002-2006 at Offut Air Force Base in Omaha, NE. While in the service, he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Training Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force BMT Honor Graduate Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon with device, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He was Airman of the Year 2005. Casey was an officer for the Pontiac Police Department K9 Unit since January of 2007. He received his Training Certificate as Detective and was also part of the Livingston County Proactive Unit. He had just received his pilot’s license this past year. He was a Board Member of the Boys & Girls Club of Livingston County and Illinois Police Benevolent and Protective Association. He was a member of the Saunemin Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate all donations to be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Livingston County or K-9 Fund through the Pontiac Police Department.
