SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for DAMAGING WIND For people in the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Southeast Coast and parts of the Gulf Country, Northwest, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts. Issued at 3:45 pm Thursday, 18 December 2014. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Warwick, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Dalby, Kingaroy and Stanthorpe. A 93km/h wind gust was recorded at Oakey at 3:40pm. An 89km/h wind gust was recorded at Wellcamp Airport at 3:35pm. A 91km/h wind gust was recorded at Julia Creek at 1:30pm. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 6:45 pm. At 3:45 pm Thursday, 18 December 2014 a separate, more detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning was current for the Southeast Queensland area (east of Dalby from Rainbow Beach to Stanthorpe).
