SEWRC imposes BGN 1m fines to EVN, Energo-Pro and CEZ The State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission handed to EVN and Energo-Pro penalties of administrative violations for the maximum allowed amount of BGN 1m, the regulator announced. By the end of the week the regulator will impose a BGN 1m penalty to CEZ as well. The regulator did not specify if the penalties were handed to the distribution or to the supply companies. The regulator’s action was triggered by the complaint from the National Electric Company that Energo-Pro Sales, CEZ Electro and EVN Electrosnabdiavane have not paid to the public supplier liabilities amounting to BGN 318m. The regulator had allowed 3 business days, ending today, for paying-off the liabilities. In case the liabilities are not settled today, the regulator could start license revocation procedures. The end suppliers have started netting-off their payables to NEK with the uncompensated cost for renewable energy following the final decision of the Supreme Admi nistrative Court which declared illegal the “methodology for compensating the expenses of the public supplier and the end suppliers, occurred as a result of their obligations to buy the electricity produced from renewable energy sources and cogeneration facilities”. The methodology, effective for about an year starting in July 2012, has resulted in accumulating a significant amount of uncompensated cost – BGN 47m for Energo-Pro Sales, BGN 23m for CEZ Electro and BGN 248m for EVN Electrosnabdiavane.
