SLDB observers are very happy to report that both traps in the East Mooring Basin remain empty! Despite ODFW attempts to scare animals into the traps by constantly hazing them off of the publics docks --the sea lions have outsmarted ODFW and have taken to hauling out on the rocks. Visitors and locals to the basin this morning were upset by ODFW hazing all of the animals off the docks and destroying any photo opportunity they had to see these animals up close and in their natural habitat. ODFW should be looking for Quagga mussels hitching a ride on sport boats instead of harassing marine mammals.
