SO HOW POWDERY WAS LAST NIGHTS SNOW IN SOUTH JERSEY? Lets talk snow ratios. Normally in South Jersey, 1 of rain equals 10 of snow. Or in other words, if you melt down 10 of snow, youll get 1 of moisture. We call that a snow ratio, and its usually 10:1 here. How about last night? At ACY(Atlantic City International Airport), we saw 7.3 of snow from the storm. BUT, there was ONLY 0.20 of moisture in that snow when you melted it down. Do the quick math...and thats a 35:1 snow ratio!!! Almost unheard of here in South Jersey! Thats why the snow is SO easy to shovel/brush away. Thats because it is all fluff, and very little moisture.
