SO SAD The family of a woman killed by a suspected drink-driver in Corby say she ‘devoted her life to her family’. Janice Buckland, 52, of Beanfield Avenue, Corby, died after being hit by a silver Renault Megane in Jubilee Avenue, Corby, on Saturday. A statement from her family said this afternoon: “Janice was a much loved wife, mother and grandmother to five grandchildren. “She devoted her life to her family and did everything she could for everyone and anyone. “Janice was also a carer for her 83-year-old father, cooking meals for him daily. “Janice was the youngest of two brothers and sister. “No words can describe how we are all feeling at this very difficult and challenging time. “She left this world far too soon and will greatly be missed by all those that knew her.” Mrs Buckland was walking along the pavement in Jubilee Avenue, Corby, at about midday on Saturday when she was hit by the Renault Megane. The Megane was being driven by a 27-year-old man and had just overtaken a red Vauxhall Zafira near the Beanfield Avenue junction. It then left the carriageway and hit Mrs Buckland. The 27-year-old driver of the Megane was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been release on bail pending further inquiries. Anyone with information or who witnessed this incident should call the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615. Read more Corby news here.
