SOSSA Representative: Westdale Secondary School Warriors, Hamilton Record: Nine wins, one loss School Bowl Appearances: One; Titles: None; Last appearance: Golden Horseshoe Bowl 2003 Athletic Association Bowl Record: 3 wins, 6 losses; Last appearance: Golden Horseshoe Bowl 2012 How They Qualified: Westdale finished the regular season in a three way tie with Westmount and Waterdown for the best overall record within the Hamilton Public Division One league, each with a record of six wins and one loss. Under the league tie breaking formula, the Warriors were seeded third for the playoffs. Their regular season loss was in week four, when Waterdown prevailed by a 37-27 count. The team scored 223 points during the regular season while allowing 84 against. In semi-final play, Westdale turned the tables on Waterdown with an emphatic 31-14 victory. They then defeated Westmount for the second time in 2013 for the league title in a tightly contested 10-7 game. The title was the second straight for Westdale and ninth overall since 1938. Advancing to the SOSSA final, the Warriors played Welland Notre Dame where they ended years of SOSSA finals frustration for Hamilton Public schools by eliminating the Niagara Representatives 20-11. Key Player: Sam Malavolta CWOSSA Representative: Assumption College Lions, Brantford Record: Nine wins, no losses School Bowl Appearances: Two; Titles: none; Last appearance: Western Bowl 2012 Athletic Association Bowl Record: 1 win, 4 losses; Last appearance: Western Bowl 2012 How They Qualified: The Lions, in qualifying for their third bowl appearance in the past four years, once again dominated the Brant County league finishing with a 5-0 record. Over those five games, the Lions yielded a paltry 11 points against while posting 180 scoring points. Their narrowest margin of victory in league play was a 24-3 win over Paris in their final game. Brantford challenged the Lions in semi-final play losing by only four points 14-10. Assumption then captured their fourth consecutive Brant championship downing St. Johns College 29-3. To win CWOSSA, Assumption first travelled to Port Elgin to play the Saugeen Royals, who had captured their eighth straight league title. The Lions easily won the sem-final match 38-16. They then met Jacob Hespeler in the CWOSSA final and for the second straight game they prevailed over a previously undefeated team, this time by a margin of 52-15 including a 30-0 lead midway through the second quarter. The CWOSSA championship, which involves as many league as some Associations have teams (4), was the fourth straight for the Lions. Key Player: Liam Putt
