SOVIET CRIMES 1940-1941. Only two weeks before Unternehmen Barbarossa started on June 22, 1941, the communist, stalinist Soviet Union (not Russia!) deported tens of thousands of peaceful civilians, mothers, women, children and elderly people, from only newly occupied - formerly independent - territories of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. When the German troops, being regarded as liberators, pushed back the Soviets forcefully some weeks later, they only found farewell memos on the railway tracks to Siberia and to the far east (where most of the victims of Soviet deportations died during WW II and later).
