STRENGTH THROUGH STRUGGLE “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” (James 1:2-3) From cradle to the grave, life is a series of battles and they are experienced by all, whether rich or poor, literate or illiterate, and whether king or subject. These battles or trials can either strengthen or weaken you, depending on your attitude. After all, life is not a bed of roses. The story is told of a biology teacher who wanted to practically teach his students how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. He placed the cocoon before the students and told them that the caterpillar would soon begin the struggle to come out but that it should not be helped. When the teacher left, the butterfly began the painful struggle to come out of the cocoon. One of the students, out of pity, cut open the cocoon and freed it. But the butterfly died later. The teacher told the students afterwards that the butterfly died because it was deprived of the natural law of developing and strengthening its wings through the struggle. Nothing good in life comes without a struggle. Some students want to acquire excellent certificates without sweat. People who fail to learn well before going into practice are dangerous to the society. Challenge: Life battles are there for all. Prayer: Lord, give me the grace to face my necessary struggles.
