~ SUNDAY SAMPLER ~ from Pastor Rick A few years ago we were at a youth event. My favorite national youth speaker, Duffy Robbins, was going to be there. I was excited for weeks before this event. I could not wait to hear what my youth ministry hero had to say. The date of the big event finally arrived. We were at the event. I had my youth group charged up. We could not hear most of what Duffy had to say. All the other youth in the crowd were making so much noise they nearly drown out Duffy. It was clear that he was bothered by this response from the crowd. He said several things from the stage trying to take control of the situation. Nothing worked. I was so frustrated. My favorite national youth worker was being disrespected. I wanted to walk around and quiet the crowd myself. We find a woman in a similar situation in this week’s Scripture lesson. Jesus was invited to a meal. The host disrespected him. The woman did the best she could to make Jesus feel loved. It did not seem to help the situation.
