Sad reality for Zimbabwe is whether we look East or West, there are no true Friends... USA gives budget support but there are massive ropes attached to it that maybe be detrimental to society long term (Uganda etc). China said “We don’t normally provide budgetary support to other countries but we try to help Zimbabwe in our own way,” the Chinese ambassador to Zimbabwe told reporters. Yes by extracting raw materials at a song to process back home, with very little taxes or value added to Zimbabwe, as even unskilled labor is shipped in from Chinese prisons etc. So basically our friends wanna make huge bargains, keep us desperate so they can buy trillion dollar assets for a million dollars (our Ministers willingly appending signatures). We are our only friends, our brothers and sisters in the diaspora etc. Too bad they feel so disenfranchised. Collectively, It doesnt take too much to unlock the value of our assets, and we can slowly build our way to a superior bargaining position. To a position of exporter of value added minerals. For now it seems our chefs will continue to be bought off for relative pennies, whilst our minerals are pillaged by foreigners. All while our local resource laws and fees prohibit locals from any meaningful participation.
