Sallah: Military to restrict vehicular movement in Maiduguri metropolis By BORNO SOCIAL MEDIA FRONTIER Men of the 7 Division, Nigerian Army, have said that no vehicle, motorcycle, tricycle or any other vehicular movement will be allowed to ply streets and roads within Maiduguri metropolis and its environs including Jere Local Government Area of Borno State from Monday, July 28 to Wednesday, July 30, 2014, dates set aside to mark Eidel- Fitr celebration. This warning was contained in a press statement signed by the spokesman of the Division, Colonel Muhammed Dole, which was made available to journalists in Maiduguri yesterday. “The report at the disposal of the security agencies reveals that the terrorists have perfected plans to launch multiple bomb explosions in Maiduguri metropolis. “Their main targets include sallah praying grounds, markets and other public places by using vehicles such as Volkswagen Golf, Pick Up vans, Keke NAPEP, Motorcycles and Bicycles. “In view of this, all vehicular movement within the Maiduguri city is banned from Monday, July 28 – Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Members of the general public are advised to perform their Eid-el-Fitr prayer at prayer grounds nearest to their residences. While necessary security measures are being put in place, people are requested to comply fully with this ban as defaulters will be severely sanctioned,” Dole said in the statement. He added that members of the public are also requested to report any suspicious movement of persons or vehicles to the nearest security agencies for necessary and prompt action.
