Saturday Breaky Joke Of The Week This morning’s story comes from Brendan in Corowa, and it’s about this American who decides to write a book about famous churches around the world. When he was in Paris, he visited the Dotre Dame Cathedral , took some photos, and then noticed a golden telephone mounted on the wall with a sign that read ‘$10,000 a call’. He was so intrigued, he asked a priest, who was strolling by, what the telephone was used for. The priest then told him it was a direct line to heaven, and for $10,000 he could talk to God. On with the tour, and in London he visited Westminster Abby, and inside he saw the same looking golden telephone, with the same sign under it. Out of curiosity he asked a Dean in the Church what the phone was used for, and in reply was told that it was a direct line to heaven, and for $10,000 he could talk to God. Now, a little further on in his travels, the American lands in Melbourne, and in the first Church he goes into, he sees another golden telephone, but this time the sign read ‘ 40 cents a call’. He sees a priest in the church, goes up to him, and tells him he’s travelled the world, and seen the same golden telephone in so many churches, and in all of them - the price was $10,000 a call. “Why is it so cheap here in Melbourne” he asks … The priest smiled at him and answered “ You’re in Australia now, my son – this is heaven, so it’s only a local call”.
