Saturday Gorda update: You know how you know when something is the right thing to do but you dont know how youre going to face the challenge alone? Well, Rob and I knew that Gorda needed to be rescued by us. Shes a very sick girl with a long road of recovery ahead of her. We had no idea how we were going to do it alone but we did it anyway. WE ADOPTED GORDA! Just as we were scrambling to prepare to pick her up from the hospital, face her anorexia, pneumonia and whatever disease may be an underlying factor, an angel appeared. In the form of a private message that went something like Hey Di--Im here to help--Ive got your back. I stared at the computer screen and was speechless (for once!). Someone heard my prayers and understood my determination to save this dogs life. Taren Sario and Lulubelle Animal Rescue are our angels and blessing today. Together, with them backing us and our commitment to foster Gorda long-term, we have joined forces to save our girl. Even though Gorda had a rough night of coughing, she slept between us and was snug as a bug. She is eating and beyond happy to be where she belongs. Were off to the vet shortly for a full exam. I will continue to raise money in her name whether we use it for her care or to replenish our fund for the next dog who needs saving. Id like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to the following people: Laura Braidi and Ashsuire Forrest, volunteers at East, for alerting me to Gorda and encouraging me to foster her for County, Bethany Animal Hospital for their awesome care, Gail Pereira and Bea Bokmann of Medical Animals In Need (M.A.I.N.) for loaning us a nebulizer, Taren Sario and Lulubelle Rescue for taking us under their wings, my personal vets at Topaz Veterinary Clinic who saw Gorda at a moments notice and always have my back, my husband Rob for ALWAYS supporting me and our hairy babies no matter what we need, and all of you for continuing to raise awareness and money to support my mission. It truly takes a village to do what we do to save an animals life. xo
