Saturday North Oakland Farmers Market has moved to 5715 Market St behind the Arlington Medical Center in their parking lot. 10-3pm, enter either on Arlington or 57th St. More info... ### For Immediate Release ### Phat Beets Produce 5715 Market St. 510-250-7957 phatbeetsproduce.org 1/20/14 Oakland, Ca- Phat Beets Produce, an Oakland based food justice collective, is moving the Saturday North Oakland Farmer’s Market from 942 Stanford Ave back to the historic Arlington Medical Center “Doc Watson Clinic” Parking lot located at 5715 Market St in the Santa Fe Neighborhood starting January 25th. Phat Beets Produce has also moved its office and headquarters to North Oakland Pediatrics/Arlington Medical Center, where they host a weekly prescription veggie program “Beet Bux” and a free farm stand every Monday in partnership with the Arlington Medical Center. In addition Phat Beets Produce will be working to build a stronger relationship and support base for preventive medicine initiatives at the center. The Saturday North Oakland Farmer’s Market, Food N’ Justice Workshop Series, and the equitable “Beet Box” CSA program will all be operating out of the parking lot at North Oakland Pediatrics through April, when upon approval from Oakland City Council the market will expand and move to the west half of 54th st @ Adeline in between Bethany Baptist Church and Santa Fe Elementary (temporarily Emeryville Secondary School). Phat Beets Produce will be having a welcoming celebration at the market with lots of childrens activities on Saturday, February 8th. All the North Oakland Farmers Markets accept SNAP (electronic food stamps), WIC checks, and offer Market Match(SNAP purchases are matched dollar for dollar for fruits and veggies) in partnership with the Ecology Center’s Market Match Program. Phat Beets Produce mission is to connect small farmers color to urban communities through the creation of clinic based farmers markets,school based farm stands, CSA’s, youth gardens, and community kitchens. Phat Beets Produce markets prioritize local oakland vendors and food producers of color through their Kitchen Incubator Program.
