Saturday evening, the vet returned and it was time for us to put to rest our wonderful mare Uva. Her condition had deteriorated much quicker than anticipated, and it was time to end her progressive suffering. She was a member of our family, the alpha to our herd, a mother, an auntie, a teacher, a pupil and a best friend. She helped me regain my confidence, showed unconditional love, listened to all of my worries and proved that it is never too late to change your path and purpose in life.. I am absolutely devastated with the loss of her, especially at such a young age, but grateful for every moment of the nine years spent in her company. I know she can now gallop free on the other side and I hope one day our paths will meet again. Thank you to everyone for the kind words this past week and a very special thank you to my mother for being my rock through all of this.
