Saturday night soup kitchen update :) Pop your email below if you would be willing to print out a document with our logo and a list of things we need so you could put it up in your office, car windows, local shops, supermarkets etc. Thanks ! Last night Gail from the daily echo came to our soup kitchen to report that theres more than 16 rough sleepers in Bournemouth and to speak to some rough sleepers who attend our soup kitchen and to see what we do for them. We only had around 50 turn up for soup kitchen last night, probably due to the protests in the day time, but still with less people it was still chaotic. One of our lovely girls who is only 20 has finally been given her placement for 8 months in rehab, so we were all very happy for her last night. Shes particularly close with Kaylee and came to the soup kitchen last night to tell Kaylee her good news. Another lady who I had not met before as I have been away for a few of the soup kitchens singled me out and said she wanted to chat with me. She told me how grateful she was for my soup kitchens, my volunteers and all the extra things we do for the rough sleepers. She continued to say that we had been the nicest people to her through out all her troubles, nicer than all the agencies and other support networks. She told me how the week before she had felt very suicidal and my volunteers talked her round and gave her great advice and support. It was great to hear that she liked us so much and we had helped her out so much. Before she was on the streets she had a great life, but due to being made redundant and then loosing her home due to lack of funds she became street homeless. One lady and her partner were given their tent they have been desperate for, so they now feel a lot safer on the streets. We had so many clothes to hand out last night, a lot of people went away with new warm jumpers, trainers and jeans, not forgetting we handed out lots of baby wipes that had been requested. One of our volunteers spent the night talking to her uncle who has been homeless in Bournemouth for over 10 years. We are now getting ready for tonights soup kitchen, if you wish to volunteer with us , please pm us. Dont forget to Pop your email below if you would be willing to print out a document with our logo and a list of things we need so you could put it up in your office, car windows, local shops, supermarkets etc. Thanks ! Feel free to share.
