School bandh called for 4th time in 12 days Hyderabad: The All India Students’ Federation has called for a state-wide schools’ bandh on Tuesday to protest the failure of the state government in regulating fees in private schools and in implementing the Right to Education Act. This is the fourth bandh call within 12 days of the commencement of new academic year on June 12. While some schools, mostly the corporate ones, have decided to declare a holiday on Tuesday, others chose to ignore the bandh call and function as usual. Schools have already lost three working days because of the Chalo Assembly bandh on June 15 called by Telangana Joint Action Committee and the subsequent Telangana bandh call given by the TRS on June 16. Most of the schools remained closed on June 21 due to the bandh called by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad to protest against the same issues like fee regulation and RTE implementation. “We have not declared a holiday since many schools have already lost three working days in the new academic year. However, it has been left to the individual schools to decide if they want to stay open on Tuesday or not,” said Sreenivas Reddy, president, Andhra Pradesh Recognised Private Schools Manag-ements Association. The AISF wants the government to enact a fee regulation Act to curb exorbitant fees and ensure removal of fancy names such as e-techno, e-global, e-smart, international, olympiad from schools.
