Scotts life lesson # 4998. True love isnt measured by terms of endearment. It isnt measured by sweet gestures or gifts. Songs, poetry and promises whispered in your ear can make your heart swell beyond its capacity and give you euphoric feelings of peace and belonging. And maybe even a sense of happiness that you never felt with anyone else. It can fill bottomless voids and inspire you to be things you never thought you could be. It can heal the soul and lift it to unimaginable heights. But be careful. All of this is nothing but a wrapper. A carrying case for true love to reside. Some cases may be decorated and adorned with all the beautiful things I mentioned before and some may be as plain as a paper bag. What matters is what is on the inside. True love is measured in patience and understanding. When times are hard. True love is humble and compassionate. True love is unconditional and forgiving. True love is brave. True love can be measured in the distance youre willing to travel into the darkness because you know that all the beautiful things that got you there in the first place are waiting for you when the storm passes. True love is the most powerful force in the universe and is unwavering. True love is loving someone more than yourself. And most importantly.....True love isnt perfect. And thats what makes it true.
