Scripture says in 1 John 4:20-21: If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? And God has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers. The one who loves God must also love his brothers and sisters. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow believer, instead love them as you love yourself. Our love for ourselves is obvious! It is evident by the fact that we go to whatever lengths necessary to care for our every whim. Love is the greatest commandment, and this takes into account everything that God requires of us. Love is the supreme virtue of Christianity and the highest goal of every believer. This is how to know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. We ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
