Second Incident Involving Robbery of a Local Juvenile! On September 4th, 2013 NRPD responded to a 911 call reporting a robbery. The victim-caller was a fourteen year old, local juvenile who reported that he had made arrangements through “Boston Sneaker Heads” on Facebook in order to trade a valuable pair of sneakers with an unknown male. The victim reported that around 8:30 that night he and a juvenile friend went to a predetermined location to meet the unknown male at which time the unknown male stole the $320 sneakers from the juveniles and fled the scene. It is believed the male fled on foot to a waiting vehicle. Trading and selling vintage and popular current sneaker models is big business and extremely popular in today’s youth culture. As previously mentioned criminals are monitoring these sites and using kid’s naivety to victimize them. Review some of the activity on the Boston Sneaker Head site and judge for yourselves if this is an appropriate place for juveniles to arrange financial deals with strangers. This is the second such robbery to a juvenile over a sneaker deal gone awry in the past month. We are urging parents to spread the word to each other about the dangerousness associated with this type of activity. The robbery is currently under investigation.
