Judith Guichon ([email protected]) Subject: Email support eliminated Dear Mr. Reimer and Commissioner, I retain my analog BC Hydro meter. I am feeling considerable concern regarding news that BC Hydro has announced that the email service for reporting ones analog meter readings has been ENDED. Months ago I created a MyHydro Profile to view my bill and payment information, and track my electricity use. Emailing my reading is better for BC Hydro, because that way I can also attach a dated photograph of the meter, for them to see the accuracy of my reading. Yes, I could mail in a copy of my photographed meter reading. However, BC Hydro will receive that report up to a week later than the day they require it to be read - and mail does add a cost to me of printing and the stamp and envelope, whereas email is free and instant. Regarding telephoning in readings (without the visual evidence to back up my stated reading), now that I hear that email service has been ended, what assurance is there that a telephone number will remain available to do so? Or, while it is, that representatives will be readily available at the other end of the telephone? If I have to pay any sum at all for keeping my analog meter, I insist that BC Hydros claim that doing so incurs to them a $70 dollar added expense (over the current two-monthly reading required) for receiving my meter reading, be reconsidered, and inspected for inflation of costs. Also, if it stays, I absolutely will require that they reinstate the email service, assure us that the telephone service will, of course, remain, and, if they do still employ meter readers, that they give to those who do the meter readings themselves, that BC Hydro will give a commensurate discount for users doing so and thus lessening the hours BC Hydro has to pay people to do that. $420 a year, over and above the electricity I use, is an astronomical amount of money for a pensioner to pay, especially since as one ages, one tends to need to keep ones house warmer. So, may I further suggest a generous discount for customers over 65? Yours Sincerely,
